Luggage storage at the main stations

King's Cross runs a left luggage facility every day from 07:00 to 23:00, so it's a solid anchor if you're coming in on any of its six operators — LNER, LUMO, Grand Central, Hull Trains, Great Northern or Thameslink.

St. Pancras International, right next door, charges £12.50 per item for 12–24 hours and £7.50 for each further 24 hours, and its direct Thameslink services to Luton and Gatwick make it a natural drop-off point before a flight.

Euston has a staffed left luggage desk opposite the waiting room by platform 16, with storage from £7.50 per item for up to 3 hours or £12.50 per item for 12–24 hours. Avanti West Coast, London Northwestern, Caledonian Sleeper and the Overground all run through it, so it covers a wide range of journeys.

By contrast, Aldgate East and Lambeth North, both Underground stations, have no official left luggage or lockers at all. Victoria Coach Station runs its own storage opposite the ticket office, open 08:00–22:00 Friday to Wednesday and until 20:00 on Thursdays, with rates from £2.00 for an hour up to £10.00 for 6–24 hours.

St. Pancras International is served by Eurostar, Southeastern, East Midlands Railway, and Govia Thameslink Railway.

Luggage storage at the airports

Stansted Airport has a left luggage facility in the main terminal that's open 24 hours daily.

If you're flying from Heathrow, the Heathrow Express is the fastest link at 15 minutes non-stop from Paddington, while the Piccadilly line offers a direct alternative from central London in about 50 minutes. Paddington also connects to the Elizabeth line and Great Western Railway, so it's a useful interchange for airport-bound travellers. The Gatwick Express runs direct from Victoria Station with a fastest journey of 30 minutes, and you can also reach Gatwick directly from St. Pancras via Thameslink. For London City Airport, the quickest route from London Bridge is 21 minutes on the Jubilee line and DLR, while the DLR itself connects Canary Wharf in 18 minutes and Bank in 22.

Bag rules at London's attractions

The British Museum prohibits wheeled suitcases and any bag over 40cm x 40cm x 50cm or 8kg, but it has a cloakroom near the Main entrance on Great Russell Street, open daily 10.00–17.00 and until 20.30 on Fridays. The National Gallery also bans wheeled luggage and suitcases, and its Sainsbury Wing cloakroom charges £3 per item for bags up to 56cm x 25cm x 45cm.

The Tower of London provides no left luggage or storage facilities, and suitcases, large bags and rolling luggage aren't permitted inside. The Natural History Museum has two cloakrooms, with the Central Entrance cloakroom reserved for large bags and suitcases while the East Entrance handles coats and smaller items. Wembley Stadium allows only one small bag per person up to A4 size (297mm x 210mm x 210mm).

The OVO Arena Wembley prohibits bags over 30cm x 40cm x 20cm and has no cloakroom or storage at all. Tottenham Hotspur Stadium has no left luggage service and permits bags only up to A4 (21cm x 30cm). Emirates Stadium also limits bags to under A4 with no on-site storage.

For shopping trips, Westfield Stratford offers a cloakroom on the Lower Ground Floor next to Costa Coffee, charging £6 for small luggage and £8 for large bags for 0–4 hours, with a 15kg weight limit. The Criterion Theatre near Piccadilly Circus has no cloakroom for large bags or suitcases, and the Leicester Square Theatre has no cloakroom at all, though small bags are allowed subject to search.

Getting around London with luggage

Transport for London asks passengers to bring only luggage they can carry themselves on the Tube, Overground and Elizabeth line, and there's no luggage assistance on the wider Underground network. Heathrow Express staff can't help lift items over 23kg, so pack accordingly if you're using that service. A standard one-way Heathrow Express ticket costs £26 on the day, with advance singles from £10, which is worth knowing before you commit to it with heavy bags.

In Westminster, there's no luggage storage run by the council or transport authority, despite the area's heavy footfall around the Houses of Parliament, Big Ben and Westminster Abbey. Westminster Underground station connects the Jubilee, District and Circle lines, so it's easy to reach but not a place to count on leaving a bag.
