Heading to MetLife Stadium means thinking about your bag before you even leave Manhattan—what’s allowed through the gates is limited, and you’ll want the trip itself to feel simple.

Getting there is workable with luggage, though: NJ TRANSIT’s Meadowlands Rail Line runs from Secaucus Junction to a station right at the entrance for major events. Coach USA’s 351 bus from the Port Authority Bus Terminal also drops you in Lot K, and rideshares have their own lot, so you’re never carrying a bag far to the gate. Inside, food and drink rules are strict but clear, with alcohol barred entirely. MetLife Stadium is a venue in East Rutherford, New Jersey, home to both the New York Jets and New York Giants. Getting to the stadium with luggage

MetLife Stadium sits five miles west of New York City, and the closest rail link is the Meadowlands Rail Station just steps from the entrance. NJ TRANSIT’s Meadowlands Rail Line shuttles between Secaucus Junction and that station for major events, which is the easiest train-based way in if you’re already carrying bags. Coach USA also runs the 351 Meadowlands Express bus from the Port Authority Bus Terminal, dropping off and picking up in Lot K near the Quest Diagnostics Performance Center. If you’re taking a rideshare, the designated pickup and drop-off zone sits in Lot E off West Peripheral Road, so you won’t need to walk far with whatever you’re carrying.

Before you go through security

For most events, including NFL games, the gates open two hours before the start time, which gives you a little breathing room to sort out a bag before going through screening. Food can come inside only if it’s in a clear plastic bag, and drinks need to be factory-sealed plastic bottles of water or soft drinks that are 20 ounces or less. Alcohol of any kind can’t be brought into or out of the stadium, so finish anything open before you reach the gate.
