Nice staff.  Great location.  Would have preferred a secure storage location.  All luggage is left in the gift shop along a wall.  Nothing missing, but felt a little worrisome.   Lots of staff walking around the store however.

The desk clerk, Jefferson, was friendly and helpful. Although we weren’t hotel guests, didn’t feel any judgement against us for storing our luggage, using the restroom, and having our lunch in the foyer before going out to explore the city.

Great Hotel, friendly staff. Made sure my carry on sized bag was secured in a separate room even though there was overflow of checked out guests with oversized rollers within the lobby for storage.

Getting to Javits Center with luggage

The easiest rail route is the 7 train to 34th Street-Hudson Yards, about a block from the center. If you're coming via Amtrak, New Jersey Transit or the Long Island Rail Road, you'll arrive at Penn Station and can reach the Javits Center from there.

Madison Square Garden sits directly above Penn Station on the 1, 2, 3, A, C and E lines, so sorting out your bag before heading west to the convention center makes sense.

Nearby attractions and their bag rules

The Broadway theater district runs from West 40th to 54th Street, and its venues don't let large luggage inside, case or no case. Broadway theaters do not provide luggage storage, and large bags or luggage that cannot fit at a seat are not allowed inside. One Times Square goes further, banning suitcases, wheeled duffels, carry-ons and packages outright with no coat check to fall back on.

Madison Square Garden hosts Knicks and Rangers games plus concerts.
