Bagels are great, but 1 of 2 our bagels was done wrong, both type of bagel and stuffing.
- Osvil
Very friendly and easy. Closest to the Met, which is no longer reliable for backpack storage.
- Mary
Very quick for both drop off and pick up. Bag was kept safely out of sight behind a counter.

It was fine for what it is, a mid-size bodega. Could someone have stolen my backpack during the 2 and a half hours I needed a place to store it while I visited the nearby museum? Sure, but not easily, and not without basically being able to rob the cash register as well, so the bags were about as secure as you can hope for without actually being locked away into a lockable cabinet.

Very convenient for the Metropolitan Museum of Art - just around 7 blocks away, which made it the closest available location, through a safe and attractive area of NYC. The store employees were very friendly and helpful as well. I'd use this location again if another opportunity to do so arises.

Used this for a trip to The MET and Central Park. Left 3 bags for over 6 hours. Easy and quick
- Iris
The process was super easy, and all went well. I choose the location because it said close to the MET, but it is still a good 15 minutes' walk. Bonus is the super delicious vanessa patisserie right at the corner.
- Nube
I had some doubts but everything was excellent, the service was quick and very friendly, the location is the best

Easy to find, only 2 blocks from the subway. Items were stored near checkout between some boxes and the vegetables. Bags were tagged with my name and phone number and ID checked upon pickup. Couldn’t have been easier and items were untouched.

The Met's bag rules and what Stasher accepts
Stasher has no bag size or weight limits, so its luggage storage can accommodate oversized luggage, shopping bags and research materials that The Met cannot accept. The museum’s visitor rules prohibit large bags and luggage inside the building and at its coat check. That coat check handles smaller items such as coats and bags during a visit, but it is not an option for large luggage. Stasher therefore provides separate storage outside the museum, rather than inside it.
Researchers using the Thomas J. Watson Library face an additional rule: bags larger than 8.5 × 11 × 2.5 inches must go in the library’s designated lockers. Stasher’s size and weight policy also covers these larger belongings, including research materials.
How to book and what is covered
Stasher has luggage storage near Metropolitan Museum of Art through trusted local shops, hotels and self-service smart lockers. A spot is booked online, and the bag is kept safely out of sight until you collect it. Every booking near the museum is covered by the Stasher Guarantee, up to US$14,000 per booking. Before drop-off, a cancelled booking may receive either a 50% refund or a 100% coupon. These terms apply to bookings made with any of the listed storage formats near the museum.
Reaching the museum by subway and bus
The 81st Street–Museum of Natural History station serves the B and C subway lines, providing a direct subway option for reaching the museum area. Bus routes offer a second approach: the M1, M2, M3 and M4 run along Fifth Avenue to 82nd Street, or along Madison Avenue to 83rd Street. These are the relevant transit corridors for arrivals heading towards the museum entrances.
Long-running exhibitions that shape your visit
