Bagels are great, but 1 of 2 our bagels was done wrong, both type of bagel and stuffing.
  • Osvil4 months ago in Manhattan
Very friendly and easy. Closest to the Met, which is no longer reliable for backpack storage.
  • Mary11 months ago in Manhattan
Very quick for both drop off and pick up. Bag was kept safely out of sight behind a counter.

It was fine for what it is, a mid-size bodega. Could someone have stolen my backpack during the 2 and a half hours I needed a place to store it while I visited the nearby museum? Sure, but not easily, and not without basically being able to rob the cash register as well, so the bags were about as secure as you can hope for without actually being locked away into a lockable cabinet.

Very convenient for the Metropolitan Museum of Art - just around 7 blocks away, which made it the closest available location, through a safe and attractive area of NYC. The store employees were very friendly and helpful as well. I'd use this location again if another opportunity to do so arises.

Used this for a trip to The MET and Central Park. Left 3 bags for over 6 hours. Easy and quick
  • Iris2 years ago in Manhattan
The process was super easy, and all went well. I choose the location because it said close to the MET, but it is still a good 15 minutes' walk. Bonus is the super delicious vanessa patisserie right at the corner.
  • Gail2 years ago in Manhattan
Easy to find, only 2 blocks from the subway. Items were stored near checkout between some boxes and the vegetables. Bags were tagged with my name and phone number and ID checked upon pickup. Couldn’t have been easier and items were untouched.

Most major attractions ban large bags and offer no storage

Stasher provides luggage storage in Manhattan for bags that several signature attractions will not accept. The Empire State Building bans large bags, suitcases, carry-on luggage and oversized packages, with no lockers or storage on site. Rockefeller Center also prohibits large bags and luggage and has no on-site storage. The Metropolitan Museum of Art does not allow large bags or luggage inside, including at its coat check, and provides no on-site storage or lockers. Stasher solves the gap these venues leave.

The American Museum of Natural History is different: paid lockers cost $7 per day for small bags measuring 12.5 in x 11 in x 19.5 in, or $12 per day for large bags measuring 22 in x 11 in x 19.5 in. They are available until 5 pm. The Museum of Arts and Design offers free self-service storage lockers for visitors.

Connecting through Moynihan Train Hall or Grand Central

Stasher offers luggage storage in Manhattan as a flexible alternative to Amtrak’s fee-based bag storage at Moynihan Train Hall. That suits passengers who want to spend time before an onward train without their bags. Moynihan has direct access to the A, C, E and 1, 2, 3 subway lines, and is open daily from 5:00 a.m. to 1:00 a.m. Amtrak advises passengers requiring assistance or checking baggage to arrive at least 45 minutes before departure. Its bag-storage service is available at Moynihan for a fee. The Metropolitan Lounge also sells single-visit passes for $50.

Grand Central Terminal connects with the 4, 5, 6, 7 and S subway lines, plus the M1, M2, M3, M4, M42, M101, M102, M103 and Q32 bus routes. For a train from Moynihan, the hall’s hours provide the stated facility window, but they do not specify a luggage collection deadline.

Book online and store any bag size

Stasher lets you book luggage storage in Manhattan online at a trusted local shop, hotel, or self-service smart locker. Your bag stays safely out of sight until collection. Stasher has no bag size or weight limits, so oversized or awkward luggage is not restricted by dimensions or weight. That makes this option suitable for large bags brought to Manhattan attractions. Book your spot online with Stasher.
