The owner was helpful; he took all the suitcases and even the smaller bags without any extra charge. The pickup location is well marked and safe — nothing went missing. You can communicate in English.

The truth is it's a bit confusing from Tiburtina to the place you need to go, because it shows that it's straight through a park, but that park is closed — or it was closed when I got there — and I had to go all the way around, but anyway, no problem at all.

Booked online, arrived at the address and the shopkeeper had no idea why we were there. I explained we booked a short time before arrival and eventually he accepted our luggage. On the plus side, app was easy to use, good value and our luggage was safe.

I was only in Rome for the day and needed somewhere to drop off my bag near Roma Termini. The location is very convenient and close to the station. Hossen who runs the location was super friendly and attentive. He told me that he's only been running the stasher location for one month, hence the low number of reviews. I can confirm the location is legitimate and perfectly safe - get it while it's cheaper than most other ;)

FAQs

Where can I leave my luggage at Rome Fiumicino Airport?

The airport's left-luggage desk is in Terminal 3 arrivals, and if you'd rather store bags in the city, the non-stop Leonardo express reaches Roma Termini in 32 minutes.

Stasher has a local shop about a 5-minute walk away, under 300 m from the fountain, rated 5 from over 200 reviews.

Can I take large luggage on Rome's ATAC buses and metro?

Only within limits: one bag up to 50x30x25 cm travels free, larger or extra bags need their own ticket, and anything bigger than 80x45x25 cm isn't allowed on board at all, so it's simpler to drop a big suitcase before you ride.

Luggage storage across Rome's main hubs

Storing your bags in Rome lets you spend your spare hours exploring the city rather than keeping an eye on your luggage.

Roma Termini and Rome Fiumicino Airport both have official left-luggage facilities, but Roma Tiburtina does not. At Fiumicino, the official desk sits in Terminal 3, International Arrivals, near the bus station, and it's open daily from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. Roma Termini's own left-luggage office near platform 24 keeps slightly longer hours, from 6:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. daily. The Leonardo express is a rail link into the centre, running non-stop from Fiumicino to Roma Termini in 32 minutes for €14 one-way. It departs every 15 minutes at peak times, though at other times this widens to every 30 minutes. From Rome Ciampino Airport, the fastest option is a bus to Roma Termini taking about 40 minutes. Alternatively, the Ciampino Airlink combines a bus and train via Ciampino station. If you're heading to Tiburtina instead, the FL1 regional line offers a direct rail connection from Fiumicino in about 48 minutes. Roma Tiburtina is about 4 kilometres from the city centre and sits on metro line B. With Stasher, you can store bags from €1.49 per bag per day at 190+ locations across Rome.

Some top Stasher locations in Rome include:

Getting around Rome with luggage

ATAC, Rome's public transport operator, allows one piece of luggage per passenger for free as long as it fits within 50x30x25 cm. Extra or larger items — up to a maximum of 80x45x25 cm — need their own ticket, and bulkier items are barred outright. Musical instruments get a little more latitude: a cased instrument up to 150x50x20 cm rides free, one per passenger. If you're travelling with a pushchair, ATAC suggests using station lifts where available and the wider entry and exit gates.

Bag rules at Rome's sights and neighbourhoods

The Vatican Museums require anything larger than 40x35x15 cm to be left in their cloakroom, which is free to use. The Vatican itself is reached via Ottaviano-San Pietro on metro line A. The Pantheon has no cloakroom service, and Largo di Torre Argentina has no lockers and bars oversized bags entirely.

At the Fontana di Trevi, there's no cloakroom either, and visitors are advised to carry only small bags. Areas such as Via del Corso, Prati, and Testaccio don't provide any official storage of their own. Prati is served by Ottaviano and Lepanto on line A, while Testaccio's nearest stop is Piramide on line B, a five-to-ten-minute walk away.

Exploring Rome after you've stored your bags

Piazza Navona is a public square open 24 hours a day, every day of the year, with no admission fee. Campo de' Fiori has no direct metro stop; the nearest buses stop on Corso Vittorio Emanuele II, about three minutes away on foot.

The Circo Massimo can be reached via Circo Massimo station on line B. The open green area is free at all times, though the archaeological zone and the Circo Maximo Experience require paid tickets. Trastevere isn't on the metro, but tram line 8 along Viale di Trastevere and the Trastevere railway station just outside the neighbourhood both get you there.
