Stasher connects travellers with trusted luggage storage locations across Rome, covering every major neighbourhood, transport hub, and attraction in the city. From the area around Roma Termini to the streets beside the Colosseum, the Vatican Museums, and the Trevi Fountain, every Stashpoint is individually vetted, reviewed, and staffed by a real person. Partner locations include hotels and professional businesses across the city, familiar, secure environments where your bags are in safe hands. Luggage storage in Rome starts from €2.99 per bag per day, a fraction of what official left luggage counters charge.

    Rome luggage storage guide

Stasher works with hotels, shops, and businesses throughout Rome to offer secure, affordable bag storage without the limitations of a locker bank or an official left luggage counter. Every location is reviewed by real customers, and every booking comes with a guarantee of up to €1,000 per bag against theft or damage.

Pricing starts from €2.99 per bag per day, varying by bag size and location. All four bag sizes are accepted:

    • XS covers very small bags and personal items.
    • Small covers backpacks and tote bags.
    • Medium covers hand luggage and cabin bags.
    • Large covers suitcases and checked luggage.

There are no size surcharges, one flat rate applies per size tier regardless of weight. Many Stasher locations in Rome are open long hours or around the clock, which is particularly useful given Rome's busy calendar of early arrivals, late-evening events, and Jubilee pilgrimages throughout the year. Book online before you arrive: your booking is confirmed instantly, with no queue and no minimum waiting time.

How to book luggage storage in Rome

Booking takes under two minutes and your Stashpoint is confirmed immediately. Here is how it works:

    1. Find a location near you, search the Stasher website to see all available Stashpoints on the map, with real-time availability and opening hours. Filter by neighbourhood, metro station, or specific landmark.
    2. Choose your bag size and confirm dates, select how many bags, what size, and your drop-off and collection times. You can book for a few hours or several weeks at the same flat daily rate.
    3. Drop off your bags, arrive at your Stashpoint with your booking confirmation and a photo ID. The handover takes moments.
    4. Collect when ready, return any time within your booked window, show your booking reference, and you are on your way.

Unlike the official left luggage desks at Roma Termini or the airports, there is no queue and no fixed desk to reach before it closes. Many Rome locations accept bags outside standard business hours, filter by availability when searching to find those open early or late.

    Upcoming events in Rome

Jubilee of Youth, 28 July-3 August 2025, St Peter's Square and Circus Maximus. Up to one million young pilgrims are expected in Rome for the official Jubilee of Youth week, with major gatherings at St Peter's Square and the Circus Maximus. The city will be exceptionally busy: transport hubs, especially Roma Termini and Roma Tiburtina, will see significant congestion. Storing bags at a Stashpoint before joining the processions or attending the Welcome Mass on 29 July makes the day significantly easier to manage. Our Circus Maximus luggage storage page and Vatican St Peter luggage storage page cover nearby options in detail.

Nick Cave at Roma Summer Fest, 22 July 2025, Cavea, Auditorium Parco della Musica. The Roma Summer Fest runs from 5 June to 21 September at the Auditorium Parco della Musica Ennio Morricone. Nick Cave performs on 22 July in the open-air Cavea. Concertgoers arriving from out of town on the day can store bags near Roma Termini before heading to the Auditorium, then collect on the way back to the station.

Franz Ferdinand at Roma Summer Fest, 30 August 2025, Cavea, Auditorium Parco della Musica. After selling over six million tickets worldwide on their current tour, Franz Ferdinand play the Roma Summer Fest outdoor stage on 30 August. Day-trippers arriving into Rome for the show and departing the same evening will find a Stashpoint near Termini ideal for keeping luggage off their hands for the full day.

Sigur Rós at Roma Summer Fest, 12-13 September 2025, Sala Santa Cecilia, Auditorium Parco della Musica. Icelandic post-rock artists Sigur Rós perform two nights at the Auditorium's indoor Sala Santa Cecilia on 12 and 13 September. For visitors combining the concert with a longer stay in Rome, Stasher handles bags between hotel check-out and the evening performance without needing to return to accommodation.

Romaeuropa Festival, from 4 September 2025, venues across Rome. Now in its 40th edition, the Romaeuropa Festival brings contemporary theatre, dance, and performance to more than 20 spaces across the capital from 4 September through to November. With events spread across the city, including at Teatro dell'Opera di Roma and Villa Borghese, storing bags centrally near Roma Termini or the Pantheon area gives flexibility to move between venues freely.

Estate Romana, ongoing through summer 2025, citywide. Rome's annual Estate Romana programme fills the summer with open-air cinema, concerts on the Tiber, and performances at historic sites across the city. With events at locations from Trastevere to the Villa Borghese, having bags stored centrally rather than carried from site to site is practical from early morning through to late at night.

Luggage storage at Rome's train stations

Rome is served by two main rail termini and several regional stations. Official left luggage exists at Roma Termini, but it is expensive and operates limited hours. Stasher provides a practical alternative at, and around, every major station in the city.

    Roma Termini

Roma Termini is Italy's busiest railway station and Rome's primary hub for national and international connections. Frecciarossa and Italo high-speed services depart here for Naples (approximately 1 hour 10 minutes), Florence (approximately 1 hour 22 minutes), Milan (approximately 2 hours 55 minutes), and Venice. Regional and intercity trains serve dozens of further destinations across central and southern Italy, and the Leonardo Express connects directly to Rome Fiumicino Airport in approximately 32 minutes.

The official left luggage facility at Termini is operated by KiPoint, located near Platform 24. KiPoint charges approximately €10 per bag per 24 hours. Stasher locations around Roma Termini start from €2.99 per bag per day, that is up to 70% cheaper, a saving of €7 or more per bag per day. Beyond the price difference, Stasher locations are bookable online before you arrive, with no queue, no counter to reach before closing time, and a €1,000 guarantee per bag included. Our Roma Termini luggage storage page lists all nearby Stashpoints with live availability.

    Roma Tiburtina

Roma Tiburtina is Rome's second major station, handling high-speed Frecciarossa and Italo services as well as regional trains and intercity coach connections. It is a key arrival point for visitors reaching Rome from the north or northeast. There is no permanent official left luggage facility at Tiburtina. Stasher fills this gap directly, with multiple locations nearby starting from €2.99 per bag per day. Full details are on our Roma Tiburtina luggage storage page.

    Roma Ostiense and San Pietro

Roma Ostiense serves trains to Fiumicino Airport (the cheaper FL1 regional route), the coast at Ostia Lido, and connections south. Luggage storage near Roma Ostiense is available through Stasher for travellers using this route. Roma San Pietro station sits a short walk from St Peter's Basilica and is useful for Vatican-bound visitors arriving from the south; San Pietro station luggage storage options are available through Stasher nearby.

    Luggage storage near Rome's airports

    Rome Fiumicino Airport (FCO)

Fiumicino is Rome's main international airport, located approximately 30km west of the city centre. The official left luggage service is operated by ADR and is located in Terminal 3, International Arrivals. ADR charges €10 per bag per 24 hours. Stasher locations near Fiumicino start from €2.99 per bag per day, a saving of €7 or more per bag, per day. The airport is connected to Roma Termini by the Leonardo Express, which departs every 30 minutes and covers the journey in approximately 32 minutes at a ticket price of €14. For travellers with a long layover or a late-evening departure, storing bags in the city via a Stashpoint near Termini and travelling light to the airport is considerably cheaper than paying for airport storage for the full day. Full details on our Rome Fiumicino Airport luggage storage page.

    Rome Ciampino Airport (CIA)

Ciampino is Rome's secondary airport, approximately 15km southeast of the city centre. It serves primarily low-cost carriers. Shuttle buses to Roma Termini depart frequently and take approximately 40 minutes, with tickets available from around €6. Official on-site luggage storage at Ciampino is limited. Stasher provides options near the airport and throughout the city for travellers passing through. See our Rome Ciampino Airport luggage storage page for nearby Stashpoints, or use a central Rome location before catching your shuttle to the airport.

Luggage storage near Rome's venues and attractions

Rome's most visited sites enforce some of the strictest bag policies in Europe. Knowing the rules before you arrive, and having a Stashpoint lined up, saves queuing time and avoids being turned away at the entrance.

The Colosseum does not permit backpacks or large bags inside. Visitors carrying standard travel backpacks or cabin-size bags will be refused entry or required to check them, which creates long queues at the site. The nearest Stasher locations are steps away: our Colosseum luggage storage page covers your options. Store your bags before joining your timed entry slot and avoid the hassle entirely. The Roman Forum area also has nearby Stashpoints for visitors covering both sites in a single day.

The Vatican Museums and St Peter's Basilica require visitors to leave any luggage, suitcases, bags, or containers larger than 40×35×15 cm in the cloakroom, this rules out most cabin bags and all rolling suitcases. The cloakroom is free but adds time to entry and does not offer the same security guarantee as a booked Stashpoint. Our Vatican Museums luggage storage page and St Peter's Basilica luggage storage page list options within easy walking distance. The nearby Ottaviano metro station area has several Stashpoints convenient for Vatican-bound visitors.

Galleria Borghese imposes the strictest bag policy of any major Rome attraction: only bags smaller than 21×15 cm are permitted inside. Virtually no standard bag qualifies. Our Villa Borghese luggage storage page covers the nearest Stashpoints to the gallery. Store your bag, attend your timed slot (Borghese operates exclusively on pre-booked 2-hour entries), and collect on your way out of the park.

For visitors exploring central Rome's open-air landmarks, Stasher has storage near Piazza Navona, the Pantheon, Campo de' Fiori, and the Spanish Steps, making it straightforward to spend a full day moving between Rome's historic centre on foot without dragging luggage across cobblestones.

Long-term and large group luggage storage in Rome

Stasher works for multi-day and multi-week bookings at the same flat daily rate, there are no price increases or hidden fees for extended stays. Whether you are storing bags overnight between an early arrival and a late hotel check-in, or leaving luggage for a full week while travelling onwards from Rome, the booking process is identical and the daily rate stays the same.

For groups, multiple bags can be added to a single booking with clear per-bag pricing from the outset. Travelling with ten or more bags? Contact Stasher's support team before booking for guidance on the best available locations for large groups.

Rome is one of the principal cities of the 2025 Jubilee, drawing millions of pilgrims and visitors throughout the year for special events, holy door ceremonies, and papal audiences. Many pilgrims arrive by coach at Tiburtina or by train at Termini and face a gap of hours between arrival and their accommodation check-in. Stasher handles bags for the full duration, drop off at arrival, collect before bed, so that the city can be explored freely on foot rather than spent managing luggage. The Piazza di San Pietro in Vincoli, Roma San Pietro, and Prati areas all have Stashpoints well-suited to pilgrim itineraries near the Vatican.
