Thank you to Stasher for providing us with a solution when we couldn't find an available locker at the Wien Mitte station, so we didn't lose our last day in Vienna!! It is definitely more expensive than the station lockers, but it was relatively close to a metro stop, the third from Wien Mitte, and the app's response and the whole process were flawless!!

Getting to the cathedral with your bags

The nearest metro station is Stephansplatz, served by U-Bahn lines U1 and U3, and it leads directly to the cathedral. You'll barely walk at all from the platform exit to the cathedral itself, which helps if you're managing a bag before storing it. The main entrance, the Riesentor on the west side, offers step-free access to the cathedral interior. Inside, visiting times are Monday to Saturday from 9.00 to 11.30 and 13.00 to 16.30, and on Sundays and public holidays it is open only from 13.00 to 16.30. The two towers keep longer hours, open all year round from 9.00 to 18.00.

Nearby sights and their own bag rules

The Vienna State Opera requires visitors to leave coats, jackets, and bulkier items like rucksacks, suitcases, umbrellas, and musical instruments in its free cloakrooms. Hofburg Palace is about a 5-minute walk from the cathedral via Graben and Rotenturmstraße.

MuseumsQuartier Wien combines major museums, dining, and public spaces in one of the world's largest art and culture complexes. It's reached via the U2 at MuseumsQuartier station, or the U2 and U3 at Volkstheater. The Vienna Secession Building is served by Karlsplatz station on the U1, U2, and U4, as well as several trams and buses at Opernring.
