A long layover at CDG often leaves travellers deciding between hauling bags into Paris or finding somewhere to leave them, and this guide covers both options.

Once you're through security, the airside area is for badge holders only, but Terminal 2E has an airport hotel with hourly cabins and Terminal 2C has a lounge open to all airlines. For getting into the city, the RER B is the slower way in, while the CDG Express gets you to Gare de l'Est in 20 minutes. CDG Airport sits about 25 kilometres from the centre of Paris. Official luggage storage at CDG is available through the airport's official left-luggage facility at the Terminal 2 TGV/RER station, level 3, opposite the Sheraton Hotel. The RER B serves both Aéroport Charles de Gaulle 1 station for terminals 1 and 3 and Aéroport Charles de Gaulle 2 station for terminal 2. Getting between CDG and Paris with luggage

The RER B journey between CDG Airport and central Paris takes roughly 30 to 40 minutes, serving Gare du Nord, Châtelet-Les Halles, and St. Michel-Nôtre Dame along the way. A faster option is the CDG Express, a direct rail link to Gare de l'Est with a journey time of 20 minutes. Trains run every 15 minutes from 5:00 am to midnight, seven days a week, and a standard one-way fare is €25. CDG Express trains offer step-free access, wheelchair spaces, and accessible toilets, with free assistance available at the station for passengers with reduced mobility.

Once you're in central Paris, the closest major transit hub is Châtelet-Les Halles, serving RER lines A, B, and D, plus Metro lines 1, 4, 7, 11, and 14.
