Everything was perfect; the luggage is in a separate room with a tag that is checked by the staff when it is collected.

There was a 15-minute waiting line, but the process to deposit the luggage and then pick it up was very quick. The staff was very kind as well :)
- Maria
The location worked so well as we were arriving from the airport as it was on the bus route
- Kimberley
Really easy to book, and really smooth drop off and pick up of my bag
- Ellen
Very kind people, storage room to leave bags in, no wait to drop off or collect
- Lois
Waverley Mall location very easy to find, staff member was really friendly and helpful. Central location if using the train station. Just a note for future users of location, you don't have to go from the station out onto street level and around to the location, like Google Maps suggests. You can just go through Waverley Market (where the McDonald's is) and go up to the location there.

Excellent location from Waverley railway station. Open 24 hours. We left our luggage at 10 am and took them back at 11 pm. The man was nice and cooperative

Castle security rules: no large bags and no onsite lockers
Edinburgh Castle does not provide luggage storage for visitors, so there are no onsite lockers or bag-storage facilities to use. Suitcases and large rucksacks measuring 30L or more are not permitted inside the castle. That restriction applies to both wheeled luggage and larger backpacks, rather than only to especially bulky items.
A bag that falls into either category will not be allowed through the entrance. The castle states that the ban supports visitor safety and general security. Visitors may also be subject to bag searches at the entrance as part of the official security screening process. Keep in mind that a search may still take place even when a bag is below the 30L limit. For luggage storage outside Edinburgh Castle, an offsite option is needed because the attraction does not hold bags for visitors.
Store any size bag securely with a local Stasher partner
Stasher has storage near Edinburgh Castle, with no bag size or weight limits. That makes it suitable for an oversized suitcase rejected at the gate. Storage is available through a trusted local shop or hotel, or a self-service smart locker. Bags are kept safely out of sight until collection. These storage points are near the castle, rather than inside the attraction. Every booking near Edinburgh Castle is covered by the Stasher Guarantee, up to £10,000 per booking.
Plan a bag-free visit with flexible collection

Set aside at least 2 hours to see the castle’s main attractions. Entry uses timed tickets, and advance online booking is recommended because tickets can sell out. Online adult admission costs £23.50, compared with £26.00 at the walk-up price.
Princes Street is the nearest tram stop, approximately a 10 to 15 minute uphill walk from the castle.
