Great location just off the royal Mile so a good place to drop bags when you haven't got accommodation. Really useful for train station. Owner, and dog, were very friendly and the bag felt safe
- Ben
Easy, quick to drop off and collect, bags in a locked room - felt very secure
- Emma
Everything was perfect; the luggage is in a separate room with a tag that is checked by the staff when it is collected.

There was a 15-minute waiting line, but the process to deposit the luggage and then pick it up was very quick. The staff was very kind as well :)
- Maria
The location worked so well as we were arriving from the airport as it was on the bus route
- Lois
Waverley Mall location very easy to find, staff member was really friendly and helpful. Central location if using the train station. Just a note for future users of location, you don't have to go from the station out onto street level and around to the location, like Google Maps suggests. You can just go through Waverley Market (where the McDonald's is) and go up to the location there.
- Kaitlin
Easy to find, the staff were helpful, and our bags were stored in an area only accessible to staff. Drop off and pickup were efficient.
- CARINE
Excellent location from Waverley railway station. Open 24 hours. We left our luggage at 10 am and took them back at 11 pm. The man was nice and cooperative

Bag rules at Royal Mile landmarks
Stasher has luggage storage near, but not inside, Royal Mile. Edinburgh Castle does not permit suitcases or large rucksacks of 30L or over, and provides no on-site luggage storage. Entrance bag searches may also take place. St Giles Cathedral has no cloakroom or luggage-storage area.
The Hub, at the top of the Royal Mile, asks visitors not to bring bags larger than 30cm x 30cm x 15cm. Bags may be searched, while a complimentary cloakroom is available for performances, but larger bags are not accepted. At the foot of the Royal Mile, the Scottish Parliament provides lockers and baggage storage for visitors exploring the building.
Stasher has no bag-size or weight limits. Bookings are made online with a trusted local shop or hotel, or a self-service smart locker.
If you’re arriving by train or tram: where to drop your bags
Edinburgh Waverley is the closest train station to Edinburgh Castle, located at the top of the Royal Mile, and sits 0.4 miles away. Princes Street is the closest tram stop, also 0.4 miles from the Castle. Both arrival points are therefore the same distance from the upper end of the Royal Mile, with Edinburgh Castle marking that end. This gives a like-for-like distance for train and tram arrivals.
Timing your visit: Parliament, Mary King’s Close and late bag collection
Stasher has storage near Royal Mile, with 9 points staying open late and 1 open 24/7, so bags can be collected after the visit. The Scottish Parliament, at the foot of the Royal Mile, is free to visit and opens 10am–5pm Monday to Saturday. Last entry for standard visits is 4:30pm. The Real Mary King’s Close is accessed from the Royal Mile. Its tours last approximately one hour, and visitors need to arrive at least 10 minutes before their allocated time. Late collection remains available after the visit, so the Parliament’s last-entry time need not be your bag-collection deadline.
