Every location is individually reviewed, and many are hotels or professional businesses, familiar environments where your bags are in safe hands. From Edinburgh Waverley Station to Edinburgh Castle and the Royal Mile, you'll find secure bag storage exactly where you need it, starting from just £1.99 per bag per day.

    Edinburgh luggage storage guide

Stasher partners with hotels, shops, and local businesses across Edinburgh to give you flexible, secure luggage storage wherever your day takes you. Pricing starts from £1.99 per bag per day, varying by bag size and location. Every bag is covered by a guarantee of up to £1,000 against theft or damage, and booking is done entirely online, no queuing, no desk check-in on arrival.

Stasher accepts four bag sizes to cover everything from a small daypack to a large checked suitcase:

    • XS covers very small bags and personal items.
    • Small covers backpacks and tote bags.
    • Medium covers hand luggage and cabin bags.
    • Large covers suitcases and checked luggage.

Partner locations are spread across the city, including near Edinburgh Waverley Station, along Princes Street, and throughout the Old Town. A number of Stasher's Edinburgh partner locations are hotels, professionally staffed, easy to find, and open long hours. Alongside these, local shops, cafés, and businesses across the city provide additional convenient options.

How to book luggage storage in Edinburgh

    1. Find a location near you, visit the Stasher website to see all available Stashpoints on the map, with real-time availability and opening hours.
    2. Choose your bag size and confirm dates, select how many bags, what size, and your drop-off and collection times.
    3. Drop off your bags, arrive at your Stashpoint with your booking confirmation and a photo ID.
    4. Collect when ready, return any time within your booked window, show your booking reference, and you're on your way.

Many Edinburgh locations accept bags outside standard business hours, filter by '24/7' when searching to find those open around the clock. This is particularly useful around Edinburgh Waverley Station and Edinburgh Airport, where early departures and late arrivals are common.

    Upcoming Events in Edinburgh

Terminal V Festival takes place on 18-19 April 2026 at the Royal Highland Centre, Ingliston, bringing two days of electronic music to the showground on the western edge of the city. Many attendees travel into Edinburgh the morning before and spend time in the centre first, storing bags near Edinburgh Waverley or along Princes Street means you can explore freely before heading out to Ingliston.

Alfie Boe performs at Usher Hall on 18 April 2026, an evening concert at one of Edinburgh's most central venues. If you're arriving into the city earlier in the day, dropping your bags at a nearby Stashpoint lets you make the most of the afternoon before the show without hauling luggage between cafes and shops.

THE ROOP play La Belle Angele on 19 April 2026, a well-known music venue in Edinburgh's Old Town. Storing your bags nearby before doors open gives you the run of the Royal Mile and the surrounding area without anything weighing you down.

DJ BORING plays Sneaky Pete's on the Cowgate across 19-20 April 2026. For travellers combining a night out with an early departure the next day, storing luggage close to the city centre the evening before removes the hassle of managing bags after a late finish. Many visitors arrive into Edinburgh on the same day and depart the morning after, keeping bags near Edinburgh Waverley Station makes that kind of itinerary straightforward.

Luggage storage at Edinburgh train stations

    Edinburgh Waverley Station

Edinburgh Waverley is the city's principal rail hub, handling the vast majority of intercity traffic. ScotRail services connect Edinburgh to Glasgow Queen Street (under an hour), Aberdeen, Inverness, and the Highlands, while LNER and Avanti East Coast trains run direct to London King's Cross in around four hours. CrossCountry services reach Birmingham, Bristol, and the south-west of England without changing trains. The Caledonian Sleeper departs Waverley overnight to London and several Highland destinations.

Stasher has luggage storage options within walking distance of Waverley's main entrance. For full details on storage options right at the station, see our Edinburgh Waverley luggage storage page. Waverley does not have a permanent left luggage counter on the main concourse, which means Stasher fills that gap directly for passengers arriving early, checking out of accommodation before an evening departure, or breaking a longer journey for a day of sightseeing.

    Edinburgh Haymarket Station

Haymarket is Edinburgh's second mainline station, sitting just west of the city centre and serving the same ScotRail network as Waverley. Most intercity services that stop at Waverley also call at Haymarket, making it a convenient alternative for passengers staying in the West End or heading to Murrayfield Stadium. Journey times to Glasgow Central run to around 50 minutes via the Shotts or Carstairs routes. Stasher has coverage in the Haymarket area, visit our Edinburgh Haymarket luggage storage page for locations closest to the station entrance.

One flat daily rate covers everything from a backpack to a large rolling suitcase, and every bag is covered by a guarantee of up to £1,000 against theft or damage.

    Luggage storage near Edinburgh Airport

Edinburgh Airport (EDI) sits around 13km west of the city centre, making it one of the more accessible regional airports in the UK. Trams run directly between the airport and York Place in the city centre, with the journey taking approximately 35 minutes and stopping at key points including Haymarket. The Airlink 100 bus service offers a faster connection to Waverley Bridge during peak hours.

Airport left luggage at EDI typically costs £12-20 per bag per day, depending on bag size and storage duration. Stasher locations in Edinburgh start from £1.99 per bag per day, often 80% cheaper than on-site airport storage, with the added convenience of booking online before you arrive. Full details on options close to the terminal are covered on our Edinburgh Airport luggage storage page.

The most practical approach for most travellers is to store bags in the city centre before heading to the airport. Drop your luggage at a Stasher location near Edinburgh Waverley Station or Haymarket, spend a few hours exploring, then pick up your bags and catch the tram or bus to EDI.

Luggage storage near Edinburgh venues and attractions

Edinburgh Castle enforces strict security checks at its entrance, and large bags cause significant delays at the gate. Storing your luggage before you arrive means you walk straight through without holding up the queue. Stasher has locations close to the Castle esplanade, and our Edinburgh Castle luggage storage page covers the nearest options in full.

Murrayfield Stadium operates a strict bag policy on match and event days, with bags larger than A4 refused at the turnstiles. If you are travelling to Edinburgh for a rugby international or a concert, drop your bags at a nearby Stasher location before heading to the ground. Full details are on our Murrayfield Stadium luggage storage page.

For a day on the Royal Mile or along Princes Street, travelling light makes a practical difference when moving between shops and historic closes. The Royal Yacht Britannia and the Museum of Edinburgh both have dedicated Stasher pages covering nearby storage.

Long-term and large group luggage storage in Edinburgh

Stasher works just as well for a week-long visit as it does for a single afternoon. The daily rate of £1.99 per bag stays flat across every day of your booking, with no price increases for extended stays and no hidden fees for longer storage periods. Whether you need to store a bag overnight between two legs of a trip or leave luggage for several days while touring further afield, the cost is straightforward and predictable.

Students moving in or out of term accommodation frequently use Stasher for storage between leases or before university halls are accessible, and Edinburgh's festival season brings thousands of visitors who stay for days at a time and need flexible, affordable storage throughout their visit.

Groups can book multiple bags together at the same per-bag rate, making it easy to calculate costs in advance. Each bag is priced individually, so there are no bulk surcharges and no surprises at collection. For very large groups of ten bags or more, contacting Stasher's support team before booking ensures everything goes smoothly.

    Frequently asked questions

Is Stasher luggage storage in Edinburgh safe?

Every location on the Stasher network is vetted, reviewed, and monitored before being listed. Most partners are hotels, guesthouses, or established professional businesses, which means your bags are held somewhere staffed and accountable rather than in an unattended locker. Every booking is covered by a guarantee of up to £1,000 against theft or damage, and Stasher holds a Trustpilot rating of 4.8 out of 5 based on more than 4,000 reviews.

How much does luggage storage cost in Edinburgh?

Stasher starts from £1.99 per bag per day. Pricing is structured by bag size: XS (think a small daypack or handbag), Small (a standard cabin bag), Medium (a checked suitcase or large rucksack), and Large (an oversized case or bulky item). There are no weight surcharges, and each size tier is charged at one flat daily rate regardless of what your bag actually weighs.

Can I store luggage near Edinburgh Waverley Station?

Yes. Stasher has locations within easy walking distance of Edinburgh Waverley Station. Official left luggage at Waverley is operated by Excess Baggage Company and charges significantly more per bag. Stasher lets you book online before you arrive, avoiding any queuing at the station desk.

Is there luggage storage near Edinburgh Airport?

Yes. The flat daily rate applies per bag, so groups simply add however many bags they need to a single booking. Multiple bags can be stored on one reservation with no administrative complexity.
