Is there luggage storage at Manchester Victoria?

AO Arena

National Football Museum

A two-minute walk from the station, free entry, and a serious collection of memorabilia covering both the English and the wider international game. The building itself — the glass-and-steel Urbis — is worth the visit on architectural merit alone.

Manchester Cathedral and Chetham's

The Cathedral sits across the road from Victoria's exit; Chetham's Library, founded in 1653 and the oldest free public library in the English-speaking world, sits behind it. Marx and Engels worked here in the 1840s.

The Northern Quarter

Ten minutes south on foot — Manchester's bohemian neighbourhood, with independent record shops, vintage stores, the Affleck's emporium, and most of the city's better bars and cafés. Stevenson Square and Tib Street are the natural starting points.

Printworks and the Corn Exchange

Two of the city's larger leisure complexes within a block of the station — restaurants, bars, and the IMAX cinema at the Printworks. Useful when the weather doesn't play.

Cathedral Gardens

A small open square in front of the National Football Museum, often used for outdoor events and seasonal markets.

Manchester Pride — August Bank Holiday weekend

Centred on the Gay Village around Canal Street, but spilling across the city centre. Trains in and out of Victoria run noticeably busier across the weekend.

Parklife Festival — early June

Held at Heaton Park, with shuttle services running from Victoria across the festival weekend.

Manchester International Festival — biennial, July

The city's flagship arts festival, running across multiple venues for around 18 days. The off-year doesn't run; the on-year draws international visitors.

Manchester Marathon — April

The course covers central Manchester and runs out to Old Trafford. Hotels fill across the weekend.

Match days at the Etihad

Tram services from Victoria carry significant football traffic to and from the Etihad Campus on match days — Manchester City's home fixtures pull strong crowds through the station from August through May.

Onward transport from Manchester Victoria

Victoria connects to the wider network in several ways beyond its National Rail lines.

Metrolink

The light-rail tram system runs through the station, with services to Altrincham, Bury, Eccles, MediaCityUK at Salford Quays, the Etihad Campus, and the airport. Tickets are cheap by UK standards and the network covers most of Greater Manchester.

Manchester Piccadilly

The city's other main station, ten minutes south by tram or 15 minutes on foot. Avanti West Coast services to London Euston, plus TransPennine and CrossCountry routes to Birmingham, the south coast, and Scotland.

Manchester Airport

Around 20 minutes from Victoria via Piccadilly or a direct Metrolink service. Long-haul flights and a strong European route network.

Salford Central

A 10-minute walk west, with onward services to Liverpool and Preston.

Coach services at Chorlton Street

The main long-distance coach station sits a 15-minute walk south of Victoria, used by National Express, FlixBus, and Megabus to destinations across the UK and into Europe.

Long-term and group storage near Manchester Victoria
