Many visitors to Messe Frankfurt arrive straight from the train with a suitcase or large bag in tow. Since the venue's entry policies typically rule those out, arranging storage beforehand is the practical move.

You can reach the City entrance on foot from Frankfurt Hauptbahnhof in about 10 minutes, or take the U4 to Festhalle/Messe. Once inside, the Festhalle bans outside food and drink, and event organisers can extend that rule across the wider grounds. Security staff may ask to search your bags or clothing at any point during your visit. Bag-size limits are not set venue-wide, so a specific event’s organiser may impose its own restrictions. The route runs along Düsseldorfer Straße, Platz der Republik, and Friedrich-Ebert-Anlage. For public transport, the U4 underground line stops at Festhalle/Messe, right at the City entrance. Tram lines 16 and 17 pull up at the same stop, giving you another direct option from further out. If you're coming by S-Bahn, the S3, S4, S5, and S6 lines serve the Torhaus entrance via Frankfurt (Main) Messe station.

This central district is also the economic heart of the city and a hub for dining and nightlife, so many visitors stay or wander there before or after a fair. If you're attending a Festhalle event, know that you can't bring your own food or drink inside, though baby food and medically required items are exceptions. Messe Frankfurt can also prohibit food and drinks across the wider exhibition grounds for specific events, so check the organiser's conditions in advance. Frankfurt Innenstadt is home to the Zeil shopping street and landmarks such as the Alte Oper and Goethe House.
