Before you fly: security, liquids and waiting airside

Carry-on rules at Frankfurt Airport aren't one-size-fits-all — each airline sets its own limits, so check with yours before packing. At security checkpoints with modern CT scanners in Terminal 1 and Terminal 3, you can carry liquids in containers up to 2 litres in your hand luggage. Getting between Frankfurt Airport and the city with luggage

The S-Bahn lines S8 and S9 run from the airport's underground Regional Station below Terminal 1 to Frankfurt Hauptbahnhof in about 15 minutes. Both the regional and long-distance stations sit on that underground level, reachable by lift, so you won't need to haul bags up stairs. The Airport-to-City-Ticket covers local public transport between the airport and the centre until 5:00 a.m. the next morning, and costs €13.50 for a single adult day ticket. Once in the city, the primary public transport hubs for reaching Frankfurt Innenstadt are the Hauptwache and Konstablerwache stations, which serve multiple U-Bahn and S-Bahn lines, while Frankfurt Zeil is the district's shopping street.
