Luggage Storage and Lockers in Chicago Loop, Stasher's 2024 Guide

    About Chicago Loop

The Chicago Loop is the bustling heart of Chicago and a central hub for business, culture, and history in the United States of America. As the city's official downtown, the Loop is bordered by the Chicago River on the north and west, Lake Michigan on the east, and Roosevelt Road on the south. It's named after the circular route that the 'L' train follows, looping around the area. This neighborhood is steeped in historical significance, having been established in the late 19th century during a time of phenomenal growth for the city.

Visitors flock to the Chicago Loop for its impressive array of attractions. The area is home to iconic landmarks such as the Willis Tower, Millennium Park, and the Art Institute of Chicago. The Loop also boasts a vibrant theater district, featuring world-renowned venues like the Chicago Theatre and the Goodman Theatre. The blend of historic architecture and modern skyscrapers gives the Loop a unique and appealing character, making it a must-visit for anyone in Chicago.

The cultural significance of the Chicago Loop cannot be overstated. It serves as the city's commercial core and is a melting pot of diverse cultures and communities. With its array of dining, shopping, and entertainment options, the Loop is a microcosm of Chicago's broader social and cultural life. Whether you're interested in history, art, or simply taking in the urban landscape, the Chicago Loop offers an enriching experience for all.

Is there luggage storage at Chicago Loop?

If you're looking for official luggage storage options in the Chicago Loop, you have a few convenient choices. While some major transportation hubs and attractions do offer luggage storage services, it's essential to check their specific locations, hours, and prices.

Officially, here are your options around the Chicago Loop:

    • Union Station: Chicago Union Station has a luggage storage facility called "Baggage Check Room" located near the Amtrak ticket office. It's open daily, and the cost varies depending on the size and duration of storage. It's best to check with Amtrak for current rates and hours of operation.
    • Art Institute of Chicago: The museum offers a coat check service where small bags can be stored. This service is located near the entrance and is available during museum hours. Large bags and luggage are not permitted, so alternative storage will be required for bigger items.

For more flexible and diverse options, consider services like Stasher, which provide a network of secure luggage storage locations throughout the city. These services often offer extended hours and competitive pricing, making them a viable alternative when official facilities aren't available or suitable for your needs.
