Getting between Midway Airport and Chicago with luggage

The CTA Orange Line is the fastest public transport between Midway and downtown Chicago, with a normal travel time of 20–25 minutes. Trains run daily from roughly 3:30 or 4:30 a.m. until 1:05 a.m., depending on the day and direction, and come every 3–9 minutes during morning rush periods or every 10–15 minutes in the evening. A one-way fare to downtown costs $2.50 with a Ventra Card or contactless payment.

The Orange Line station sits just east of the terminal at the Midway Transportation Center and is connected to the airport by an enclosed walkway. Pace buses also serve Midway and have no luggage restrictions, so your bags ride free, which is handy if the train doesn't serve your final stop.
