Bag rules at Manchester's stadiums and venues

Old Trafford bans any bag larger than 20cm x 15cm x 5cm and sends you to a designated bag drop instead, which costs £5.

Theatre, culture and shopping with bags

The Manchester Opera House is easy to reach, with Deansgate railway station around 0.3 miles away. For shopping, Afflecks is a 10- to 15-minute walk from both Piccadilly and Victoria, so it's reachable from either side of the city centre.

The Trafford Centre has its own Metrolink stop on the Trafford Park Line, directly at the centre, so you can take the tram all the way there, as long as your bags stay clear of doors and passageways. The National Trust's Castlefield Viaduct doesn't allow large luggage such as suitcases on the viaduct for safety reasons, so leave the big bags behind for that one.
