Gimpo International Airport sits in Gonghang-dong, Gangseo-gu, at the far western edge of Seoul, serving as the city's secondary airport and the main gateway for domestic flights across South Korea. Gimpo isn't built as a transit hub, and there's no airside transfer between its domestic and international terminals. Gimpo Airport Station sits on the B1 level, with lifts near most exits, making it straightforward to head into Seoul with a bag rather than wait for the storage desk to open. Getting to Seoul and nearby neighbourhoods with luggage

The fastest public transport from Gimpo to Seoul Station is the AREX all-stop train, taking about 22 minutes. The one-way fare works out to ₩1,750 with a transit card, which is cheap enough that heading into the city to store a bag often makes more sense than waiting for the airport desk to reopen. Alternatively, Seoul city bus 601 runs from Gimpo to Gwanghwamun and Jongno for ₩1,500, though the journey time depends on traffic.

Hongdae is a short ride away and easy to reach, since Hongik University Station connects Line 2, the Gyeongui-Jungang Line and the AREX line itself. It's the neighbourhood around Hongik University, famous for its youth-driven culture, indie music, street art and nightlife. Itaewon is a cosmopolitan neighbourhood with a diverse international food scene and vibrant nightlife, but it has no official luggage storage or cloakroom provided by the neighbourhood or transport authorities.
