Luggage storage at Montréal-Trudeau Airport

Long layovers and early check-outs leave plenty of travellers circling Montreal-Trudeau with a bag in tow.

The ground-transport side is well covered: the Air Canada City Shuttle and the STM 747 bus both run frequently into downtown, with luggage stowed under the coach or on the 747's racks. Getting to and from the airport with your bags

The Air Canada City Shuttle links the Palais des congrès de Montréal downtown with the airport, and luggage goes underneath in the coach hold. It picks up kerbside at Door 7 on the departures level and runs 37 times a day — every 15 minutes at peak, every 30 otherwise — for CA$9 one way plus taxes. The STM 747 bus is the other main option, costing CA$11.25 for a 24-hour pass that also covers the metro, exo train, and REM in Zone A. It takes 30 to 35 minutes to Lionel-Groulx station or 45 to 70 minutes to the Berri-UQAM area, with departures every 10 to 20 minutes. On the 747, bicycles need a rigid travel case or a soft folding-bike case, and all luggage must sit on the provided racks rather than in the aisle.

Before you fly: security, liquids and waiting airside

Carry-on size and weight limits aren't set by the airport but by your airline, so check their website before packing. For liquids, aerosols, and gels, the rule is 100 ml or 100 g per container, all sealed inside one clear, resealable 1 L plastic bag.

Once you're through security, a courtesy shuttle runs between jetties and boarding gates in the international and mixed areas from 4:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., while the transborder and Canadian customs service stops at 8:00 p.m.
