Luggage storage at Brisbane Airport

Flyers often arrive hours early or check out of a hotel long before a late departure, and Brisbane Airport’s status as Queensland’s main international gateway means plenty of them need somewhere to put a bag while they wait.

The airport sits around 10 kilometres from the CBD, so arranging storage before heading into the city is worth doing. The International Terminal has a staffed baggage storage and wrapping desk on Level 4 before security, open daily from 5:00 am to 10:00 pm.

Self-service lockers are also available around the clock at both terminals and the Skygate Centre, with small, medium and large options priced at A$10, A$16 and A$20 per day. At the Domestic Terminal, the lockers sit outside the Qantas and Virgin areas in the covered median strip.

If you're flying from the Domestic Terminal, the Ibis Brisbane Airport hotel is within a seven-minute walk and offers day stay packages between 9 am and 5 pm. With Stasher, you can store bags from A$2.99 per bag per day.

Before you fly: security, liquids and waiting airside

For international flights, carry-on liquids, aerosols and gels must sit in containers of 100ml or 100g or less, inside a single resealable transparent bag around 20cm x 20cm. Brisbane Airport itself doesn’t set cabin bag size or weight limits — each airline decides its own, so check yours before packing. At the Domestic Terminal, non-passengers can pass through security to greet or farewell travellers at the gate. If you’re waiting airside with time to spare, the International Terminal has two pay-per-use lounges: the Escape Lounge welcomes all travellers regardless of airline or ticket class, while the Plaza Premium Lounge offers a separate paid space for passengers.

Getting between the airport and Brisbane with luggage

The Airtrain is the fastest public transport link between Brisbane Airport and the city, taking 20 minutes, with an adult one-way fare of A$23.30. Its carriages have room for luggage, and most oversized items such as prams, golf clubs, surfboards and pushbikes can be accommodated. The Con-x-ion shuttle bus runs door-to-door transfers between the airport and various Brisbane locations, useful if your accommodation isn’t near a station. Once you’re in the centre, note that Brisbane City Council and the CBD transport authorities don’t run a luggage storage facility in the neighbourhood itself.

South Bank is served by South Bank and South Brisbane stations on Grey Street, while South Bank Station and South Bank Busway Station provide the closest access to the Parklands and Little Stanley Street.
