We Tried 7 Bottomless Brunches in London (Here’s What We Think)

Brunch: a tiny word that can make a millennial’s eyes weep with excitement. For at least a decade, brunching has evolved into a sacred weekly meal for many Londoners, making the Sunday roast seem like a thing of the past.

On an average weekend, long queues outside the most popular brunch establishments are common.

Whether it is avocado toast, hash browns, eggs benedict or a plain old full English breakfast, the Weekend Brunch is an institution of our times! But can it get any better? The answer is a resounding, yes!

How Bottomless Brunch Started

The bottomless brunch is a phenomenon that started in the hip districts of Manhattan. In its purest form, a “bottomless” brunch means you pay upfront for an unlimited amount of alcoholic beverages.

Depending on the establishment, this is usually mimosas, bloody marys or bellinis. Although in the US there are also restaurants with “all-you-can-eat” options, in London a bottomless brunch applies only to alcoholic beverages. And we’re absolutely fine with that!

Bottomless Brunch in London: How it Works

Bottomless brunch in London is usually a booze-soaked affair. Although there are some places that offer unlimited food included in the price, alcohol is often the main attraction for London brunch-goers. And yes, you can bet that the mixture of copious amounts of cocktails and young Londoners is the opposite of a quiet Sunday stroll.

Below are some tips for maintaining some shred of dignity on your London bottomless brunch excursion:

  • Each bottomless brunch spot has a specific set of rules you must follow. Some will ask you to commit to one particular cocktail before you start, while others have strict time limits. Make sure you get a solid grasp of the guidelines before you start.
  • Don’t order complicated drinks. Most restaurants have a list of approved cocktails (usually mimosas or bloody marys) to keep the bartender friction on a minimum. Everyone knows you’re here for the cheap booze, so keep it simple!
  • No, don’t drink straight liquor either. Traditional brunch hours are between 11:00-14:00. Starting your day off with straight whiskey or gin is sure to get you some weird looks and/or make you question your entire life’s choices.
  • Dress casually. Chances are, you’re going to be tanked by the time you’re done. For the love of Holy Brunchtail, wear comfortable flat shoes and clothes that won’t disturb your quick nap on the subway afterwards.
  • Take your time with the food. In most cases, free drinks apply as long as you have some food in front of you. Eat slowly and make sure to order the unhealthiest thing on the menu.

We have personally vetted and reviewed several bottomless brunch restaurants in London.

Below you will find some of our absolute favourites. The list will be updated regularly, so stay tuned!

#1: Jones and Sons Brunch

Jones and Sons in Dalston is a classic bottomless brunch destination for East Londoners. For starters, it is one of the few London restaurants that offer unlimited amounts of both food and drinks. Second, it’s on a perfect spot for a weekend brunch!

In terms of food, you will find a wide selection of staple brunch dishes like poached eggs, Belgian waffle, pancakes, and eggs florentine. Available cocktails include Bloody Mary, Buck’s Fizz, Prosecco, Alcoholic Iced Tea.

Please note that in order to get a new round of food, everyone on the table must have finished eating. The restaurant is quite small, so make sure to make a reservation well ahead of time and arrive at least 15 minutes earlier.

The service is attentive and friendly, as the staff will make sure everything stays topped up at all times. In typical bottomless brunch fashion, the atmosphere of the restaurant is incredibly lively and cheerful. Prices are not that exaggerated, considering unlimited food is included. Whether you’ll manage to make your money’s worth out of it though is another story! In any case, we’d advise you to go there on an empty stomach.

#2: Avenue London Brunch

One of the most famous West-End brunch joints, Avenue is perhaps the best choice for a bottomless brunch in Mayfair. Upon entering, you will notice a distinctive, classy decoration, resembling an NYC brasserie.

Although the choice of drinks is fairly limited (Prosecco or Bloody Mary), the staff will make sure that you’ll never see the bottom of your glass. The food is largely inspiring too, with a menu featuring all the brunchy goodness you could imagine: avocado toast on sourdough bread, eggs benedict and a wide assortment of pancakes. The time limit is also quite generous, as you can stay on the premises for four hours after your booking.

#3: One Canada Square Bottomless Brunch

One Canada Square in Canary Wharf is an iconic London skyscraper that also happens to have a popular brasserie-style restaurant. People who want to enjoy a Saturday bottomless brunch in an elegant atmosphere feel right at home in One Canada Square’s lounge.

Although the design is high-class, One Canada Square’s menu is surprisingly reasonable. For only £20 per person, you could enjoy bottomless Bloody Marys, Virgin Marys, Prosecco, mimosas, or ETM wine for one and a half hours.

As for the food, One Canada Square offers a nice mix of brunch standards and innovative takes on those classics. In addition to your standard eggs Benedict, guests could order avocado chilli on bread, a chicken & waffle salad, and shakshuka on sourdough. For those who are extra hungry, consider ordering a few items off of One Canada Square’s main menus like the steak tartare, crab linguini, or braised lamb breast. Note: the £20 fee doesn’t include complimentary food.

By the way, those who into the whole “wellness craze” should take a peek at One Canada Square’s colourful smoothies and cold-pressed juices. The Piano Works in Farringdon is the best brunch restaurant for people interested in taking in epic live entertainment. Every Saturday this restaurant hosts its “Brunch to the Beat” deal, which includes bottomless drinks, food, and live music from some of the area’s most talented local musicians. If you’re lucky, the band might just play one of your requests during your visit.

Once you sit down, you’ll notice The Piano Works has two menus to choose from. The first menu only allows guests to select one “Brunch Box” wrap, while the second menu grants guests a choice of two brunch main courses. A few of these fabulous finds include vegan fried chicken, salmon & scrambled eggs, and a “banana brekkie,” which contains coconut yoghurt, granola, banana, and chocolate.

#6: Bad Egg Bottomless Brunch

best bottomless brunch in London - Bad Egg

Bad Egg is a casual eatery in Moorgate that’s proud to be one of the first in London to offer bottomless brunch. As if that weren’t enough of an accomplishment, Bad Egg went one step further and invented the funky term “Frunch” (which refers to brunch on Fridays).

Bottomless beverages offered on this hip restaurant’s menu include Prosecco, mimosas, and Bloody Marys on the weekends. If you’re visiting for “Frunch,” however, then you could choose frozen slushies or Corona, but you can’t get a Bloody Mary. No matter what day you visit, you could opt for a “virgin brunch,” which simply means you’ll get 2 hours of bottomless non-alcoholic beverages.

Another difference between “Frunch” and weekend brunch is how much food you could order. Weekend guests will be allowed two brunch items, whereas “Frunch” folks will get a starter or wings or nachos, one side course, and one main meal.

As the restaurant’s name suggests, everything on the Bad Egg menu is, well, egg-centric…in both senses of the term! A few popular menu items include sausage & egg muffin, the Bad Egg burger hash, and avocado toast with a poached egg. The more, um, unique items on Bad Egg’s “Frunch” menu include a fried chicken sandwich with peanut butter & Korean BBQ, harissa lamb hash, and burnt cauliflower with leeks, yoghurt, and roasted peanuts.

According to restaurant owners, Saturday brunch at Bad Egg is only recommended for more mature audiences…if you catch our drift. For those travelling with the little ones, try to visit Bad Egg on Sunday for a calmer dining experience.

  • Rules: 2-hour limit.
