Arriving and getting around with luggage

The quickest route from Dublin Airport into the city centre is the Dublin Express coach, with journeys taking as little as 14 minutes. Once in the city, bus, DART, mainline rail, and Luas services all serve the city centre. Dublin Pearse has ramps, stairs, escalators, and lifts, with a ramp to platform 1 and a lift or stairs to platform 2.

Several sights sit near rail hubs: the GPO Museum is an 11-minute walk from Dublin Connolly and a 10-minute walk from Tara Street, while the National Gallery of Ireland is a five-minute walk from Dublin Pearse. Christ Church Cathedral is a 10-minute walk from the Four Courts stop on the Luas Red Line.

Visiting sights with bags: what to expect

The GPO Museum is open Monday to Saturday from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm, with last admission at 4:00 pm, and is closed on Sundays and public holidays.

There are no storage facilities or lockers for luggage or large bags available on-site at Christ Church Cathedral, and Saint Patrick's Cathedral does not have a cloakroom or luggage storage facilities, so visitors must keep all belongings with them at all times. The National Gallery of Ireland's permanent collection is free to enter.

From 30 December 2026 to 1 January 2027, the New Year's Festival Dublin takes over the city centre. Dublin Castle is located in Dublin City Centre and is approximately a 5-minute walk from Trinity College.

Markets and shopping with bags in the city centre

Moore Street Market runs Thursday to Saturday from 11am to 5pm, while the Merrion Square Lunchtime Market operates Thursdays only from 11:30am to 2:30pm.
