Getting to and from the airport with bags
MTS Route 992 runs directly between San Diego International Airport and downtown's Santa Fe Depot, serving both terminals and taking roughly 15 minutes. It operates daily from 4:30 a.m. to 1 a.m. every 15 minutes, and it's exempt from the standard MTS luggage size limits, so a suitcase is fine on this route. On other MTS buses, riders are limited to two small carry-on bags that can sit on a lap or under a seat.
Getting around the city on transit
Old Town Transit Center links the Blue and Green trolley lines, COASTER, Amtrak, and the free San Diego Flyer airport shuttle, making it a useful interchange for reaching Mission Beach and Pacific Beach. It's also a stop on Amtrak's Pacific Surfliner, so you can break a longer rail journey there.
North County Transit District rules require that anything you bring on board can be carried in a single trip without assistance and never blocks seats, aisles, doorways, or exits. A one-way adult fare on MTS buses is $3.00.
