The guy in the hotel worried me a bit as he didn't give me a ticket, but just asked me to take a picture of my bag. Collection was absolutely fine though and it was locked away properly in a cupboard.

Getting to the arena with luggage

From Leipzig Hbf, tram lines 3, 4, 7, 8, 14, and 15 all run to the Waldplatz/Arena stop in about seven minutes. Match tickets include free use of S-Bahn, tram, bus, and regional trains across the whole MDV network for five hours before and after the game, so you can move around with a bag before you decide where to leave it. You can also walk to the arena in about ten minutes from the Sportforum and Feuerbachstraße tram stops. Other public transport stops serving the ground are Sportforum Süd, Waldplatz, Marschnerstraße, and Sportforum Ost. Once you're on the approach, Friedrich-Ebert-Straße takes you from the parking area to the stadium forecourt, while the Festwiese is the main walking route from the Sportforum Süd stop to the Glockenturm entrance. Jahnallee leads into the area around the arena and the Waldplatz stop. If you're flying out rather than staying in the city, Leipzig Hbf has direct S-Bahn connections to Leipzig/Halle Airport on lines S5 and S5X, so you can pick up a stored bag there and head straight to your flight.
