The arena itself is well connected by public transport, with three nearby stops placing you just a short walk from the entrances. Once you’re inside the perimeter, you won’t find much beyond the venue’s own doors and the routes leading to them. For anything else in Cologne, the centre is only a few minutes away by tram. It is Germany's largest multifunctional venue, accommodating up to 20,000 spectators for concerts, sports events, and shows. Suitcases, large bags, and backpacks larger than DIN A4 (21 cm x 29.7 cm) are prohibited. Entry includes ticket checks, bag screenings, and random physical checks. For most events, a fee-based bag drop for oversized bags and backpacks is available opposite the North Entrance. Internal cloakrooms for coats, umbrellas, and bags up to DIN A4 size are on service level Ebene 02, reachable by the north-east elevator. With a medical certificate or ID, you may bring up to 0.5 litres of drinks in PET bottles or Tetra Paks. With Stasher, you can store bags from €1.49 per bag a day.

Getting to the arena with luggage

Three stops — Bahnhof Köln Deutz/Messe, Bahnhof Deutz/Lanxess Arena and Deutz Technische Hochschule — sit within a few minutes' walk of the venue, so you won't need to drag a bag far once you step off public transport. From Bahnhof Köln Deutz/Messe, the pedestrian route follows Opladener Straße across a footbridge to the North Entrance. If you're coming from Justinianstraße instead, a ramp beside the Stadthaus leads straight to the South-West entrance. Doors generally open 1.5 to 2 hours before an event starts, leaving time to sort a bag at the drop before security builds up.

Nearby Cologne city centre

If your hotel or onward plans take you into the centre, KVB line 9 runs from Bahnhof Deutz/Lanxess Arena to Köln Neumarkt in roughly six minutes. Köln Innenstadt is Cologne's core, home to the Cathedral, Hohe Straße and Schildergasse shopping, plus museums, cafés and restaurants. The central railway hub serving the centre is Köln Hauptbahnhof.
