Getting into Newcastle with luggage
The Tyne and Wear Metro links the airport directly to the city centre, reaching Central Station in roughly 25 minutes. A single all-zones ticket from the airport costs £5.10 from a station machine. Metro staff advise using lifts or station ramps rather than escalators with large bags, and keeping luggage with you at all times.
Once at Central Station, St James' Park is about a 10-minute walk. The airport Metro station provides direct services to Sunderland, North Shields, and South Shields as well as Newcastle City Centre. At the Airport Metro station, the entrance is beside Domestic Arrivals.
