Luggage storage across the Isle of Wight

If you are visiting the Isle of Wight for a day trip or a slower two-day stay, you will not find any official luggage storage run by the island's tourism authority or transport operators. Wightlink's ports don't offer storage either, for security reasons.

The one real on-site option is at the Isle of Wight Festival, where lockers can be rented during the event. With Stasher, you can store bags from £1.49 per bag per day.

Arriving and getting around with bags

Wightlink can help foot passengers with reduced mobility carry luggage, provided you book at least 48 hours ahead. Island Line train staff will also assist with up to three items if you give 24 hours' notice. The Island Line runs from Ryde Pierhead to Shanklin through Ryde, Brading, Sandown, and Lake, so most visitors arrive by rail at one of those stops. Southern Vectis buses are low-floor with wheelchair space, though mobility scooter carriage is left to the driver's discretion.

Exploring the island: attractions and bag rules

The Needles rocks and lighthouse are the island's most recognisable landmarks. The Needles Old Battery and New Battery reward visitors with coastal defence history, Cold War rocket-testing stories, and panoramic views over the Solent. At Carisbrooke Castle Museum, pushchairs can be left at the front desk before heading to the upper floors.

For anyone travelling between Ryde and Shanklin by train, the journey takes roughly 25 to 30 minutes, and Sandown station has step-free access to both platforms via separate entrances and ramps. Carisbrooke Castle Museum's collection spans over 37,000 objects tied to the island's history and King Charles I.
