Arriving and getting around with luggage
Tocumen International Airport (PTY) is the region's major hub for Copa Airlines, and the quickest link into the centre is the Panama Metro's Line 2 airport branch, with a change to Line 1 at San Miguelito. The whole trip costs $0.85 one way and airport-branch trains run every ten minutes. Luggage on that branch is permitted as long as it stays within 100x75x65 cm.
Albrook station, the southern end of Line 1, opens directly into Gran Terminal Nacional de Transporte, the city's main bus terminal for intercity and international travel. If your destination is Casco Viejo, leave Line 1 at 5 de Mayo and expect a 12-to-15-minute walk or a short taxi from there.
Punta Pacífica is the exception: no metro or rail line reaches the peninsula, so taxis or rideshares are the only way in. Between Tocumen's two terminals, a free shuttle runs daily from 5:00 am to 11:00 pm.
