Musicians’ Hall of Fame Museum

The Musicians’ Hall of Fame Museum’s collection of memorabilia showcases axes that would make any guitar lover drool. The Grand Ole Opry

For nearly 100 years, every country musician’s dream has been to play at the Grand Ole Opry. The Opry broadcast its first radio show way back in 1925 and moved to its current location at 600 Opry Mills Drive in 1974.

Even if you can’t make it to a show, it’s worth the time to take a tour, which includes the backstage of country music’s biggest venue. Like most attractions in Nashville, the Opry has no coat check area or baggage storage facilities, so you'll have to find somewhere nearby to store your luggage.

Music Row

Located in the area around 16th Avenue South, Music Row is home to the studios where country’s most beloved hits have been recorded. Highlights include RCA Studio B, where Elvis Presley and Chet Atkins developed the iconic “Nashville Sound” in the 1950s. Additionally, the headquarters for musical copyrights giants ASCAP and BMI both lie near Music Row.

Most of the sites around Music Row offer tours, but you won’t find any luggage storage facilities in the area.

Tennessee State Capitol

Situated in the center of downtown Nashville, the Tennessee State Capitol hails from 1859. The facility offers self-guided and guided solo and group tours. Travelers with backpacks and any other large items will be turned away, but you can carry small purses or fanny packs.

The Parthenon

If you can’t make it to Greece, you can tour a faithfully created replica of the Greek monument in Nashville’s Centennial Park. The city originally built its Parthenon in 1897 for Tennessee’s Centennial Exposition. The site includes plaster versions of the Parthenon Marbles cast from the original sculptures and a full-scale replica of the Athena statue. You’ll also find vintage photos and artifacts from the Centennial Exposition in the Parthenon’s West Gallery.

The Parthenon prohibits entry with large items like luggage or oversized backpacks. However, there are a limited number of free lockers to store smaller items.

Riverfront Park

In the late 1700s, Nashville’s first settlers built their village surrounded by a fortress at Riverfront Park along the Cumberland River. Visitors can get a taste of what life was like for Music City’s earliest residents by touring a replica of Fort Nashborough, which was created in the 1930s. There are plenty of other interesting sites within walking distance, but you won’t find any luggage lockers or storage facilities in the area.

Andrew Jackson’s Hermitage

Andrew Jackson’s Hermitage includes the 7th US President’s home, beautifully landscaped gardens, and his tomb. The elaborate mansion has been lovingly restored and showcases many of Jackson’s personal belongings.

Unfortunately, the “People’s President” kept black slaves on his highly profitable cotton plantation. The Hermitage now runs programs to support racial equality and educate visitors on the impact of slavery on African Americans. On a lighter note, the Hermitage also offers wine tasting from the onsite Natchez Hills Winery.

Unsurprisingly, the Hermitage forbids entrance with backpacks, oversized purses, and large camera bags. Even clothing and small items may be searched upon entry.
