Luggage storage in Ajaccio: what's available

Ajaccio pulls in ferry passengers, cruise day-trippers and people flying in for a Corsican break, and plenty of them need somewhere to drop a bag before a rental is ready or after checking out.

There is little official storage in the centre, but there is an automated left-luggage facility at 2 Rue Sebastiani, five minutes from the ferry terminal and two minutes from the Saint Roch airport shuttle stop. The airport itself has no luggage storage, so arriving passengers with time before check-in need another plan. Line 11 is the shuttle bus linking the airport to the city centre, so the automated lockers near its Saint Roch stop are the closest option to a direct handoff from plane to bag-drop. The railway station in Ajaccio serves as a departure point for trains travelling to Mezzana, Corte, Ponte Leccia, Calvi, and Bastia. From Ajaccio Napoléon Bonaparte Airport you can fly directly to Paris Orly, Marseille, Nice, Lyon, Nantes, Basel-Mulhouse, Rome Fiumicino, Geneva, and Bastia. With Stasher, you can store bags from €1.49 per bag per day.

Getting around Ajaccio with bags

Ajaccio Napoléon Bonaparte Airport is located 5 kilometres from the Ajaccio city centre, with a transit time of approximately 20 minutes by bus, taxi, or rental vehicle. The one-way fare for the airport shuttle is €8 for non-residents. It runs every 15 minutes during the day Monday to Saturday, and every 30 minutes in the evening, on Sundays and on public holidays. On Ajaccio's Muvistrada bus network, small hand luggage, parcels or suitcases that one person can carry alone are allowed on board free of charge, provided they stay under 75 cm and you take responsibility for them — though this does not apply to the airport shuttle.

If you are heading to or from the ferry, the Maritime Terminal on Quai l'Herminier is where passenger ferries dock, so the 2 Rue Sebastiani lockers are genuinely close for walk-on ferry travellers.

Attractions and bag rules

The Palais Fesch bans suitcases, backpacks and large luggage outright; only handbags, satchels and small backpacks are allowed in. At the Musée national de la Maison Bonaparte, luggage is prohibited inside the museum, and small backpacks are only accepted if carried in front or in your hand — umbrellas, pushchairs, metal-framed baby carriers and helmets are refused too.

That leaves the city-centre lockers on Rue Sebastiani as the practical drop-off if you want to visit either museum with anything bigger than a handbag.

If you are coming for the Festival Ritrovu from October 29 to October 31, 2026, or the Festival International de la BD d'Ajaccio at the Palais des Congrès from November 6 to 8, 2026, expect bag rules at the venues to be tighter than usual and plan to store early.
