DART trains take luggage without size limits, though the Paratransit service is far tighter, and major attractions are split between places that check bags and places that turn them away entirely. Getting around Dallas with luggage

On DART light rail, you'll need to make sure your luggage doesn't block the aisles. The saving grace is that there are no size or weight limits on DART trains, so a large case won't get turned away as long as you can manage it. Board through the centre section of a light rail vehicle, which is platform-level and designated for luggage, strollers and other large items. The Silver Line is a little more forgiving, with overhead luggage racks plus a designated large-item area. DART Paratransit vehicles are far tighter, limiting carry-on packages to two grocery bags or similar-sized packages, each weighing no more than 20 pounds. A DART Local Pass covering rail costs $3 for a 3-hour pass or $6 for a day pass.

Bag rules at Dallas attractions

The Perot Museum doesn't have a coat check or any storage area, and luggage or large bags simply aren't allowed inside. The Nasher Sculpture Center also prohibits luggage and oversize backpacks in its galleries and garden, though it does offer an unsupervised cloakroom at the front desk.

The Crow Museum of Asian Art offers a complimentary coat and parcel check, and bags larger than 15 by 15 by 5 inches must be checked. The Winspear Opera House is stricter on what counts as too big, barring backpacks, briefcases and purses larger than 12 by 12 by 6 inches.

Arriving at DFW Airport with bags

If you're moving between terminals at DFW, the free Skylink light rail train connects all five inside security with an average ride of five minutes, so a connection there doesn't have to mean dragging a bag the long way around. If your trip involves an event at American Airlines Center in Victory Park, DART Green and Orange line trains stop right at Victory Station, which keeps the walk short. If you're visiting in autumn, plan bag storage ahead: the 7th AURORA Biennial runs across Dallas from November 4–20, 2026, followed by a citywide outdoor exhibition on November 21.
