If you´re a train passenger arriving in Córdoba you will be let off just outside the exquisite botanical gardens, where you may take a 20-minute walk through the verdant grounds to the city's primary feature, the imposing Cordoba mosque-cathedral.

• Alcázar de los Reyes Cristianos is a large fortress and palace complex that encloses a small Andalusian paradise. Despite the sobriety of the exterior, the interior is a treat for the eyes.
