Britomart Station is Auckland’s busiest transport hub, followed by Newmarket and The Strand Station.
There are no longer luggage lockers at Britomart Station. The closest ones are a few blocks away on Hobson Street. However, understand that with lockers, you’ll pay twice. Once to open them and once to get your stuff out. Depending on the size, you’ll pay anywhere between $2 and $4 for the initial opening and $4 to $6 for re-opening.
Unfortunately, there are no longer luggage storage lockers at Britomart Station in Auckland, according to locals on TripAdvisor. The closest lockers can be found a few blocks away at the SkyCity Travel Center, 102 Hobson Street.
Prices vary by size as follows:
If you’re stuck at the airport for a few hours and want to go shopping or see a few of the sights, you may be interested in the bag services there.
Smarte Carte runs a luggage storage service out of Auckland Airport. It costs anywhere between $12 and $16 a bag, depending on size. Folks visiting the city for a day or less, who are arriving and departing by plane, find Smarte Carte’s service convenient because they don’t need to carry their belongings outside the airport.
However, be aware that Auckland CBD, the area’s airport, is about 15 kilometers outside the city. Depending on traffic, it can take a while to get there. So, if you need something from your luggage during the day, it’s completely impractical to hop back to the airport quickly.
For many people, using a luggage storage service closer to downtown makes more sense.
Along with short-term left luggage at the Auckland Airport lost property desk from 8am to 4.30pm Monday to Friday, Smarte Carte has paid baggage storage in both the arrivals and departures area.
Typical Smarte Carte pricing is $12 for a small bag, $14 for a medium bag, and $16 for a large bag.
Auckland Airport is about 15km south of the city center, known locally as Auckland CBD, although it can take a while to get there due to traffic.
SkyBus Auckland Airport Express has 24-hour service to Auckland CBD with free WiFi and runs every 12 minutes, but takes over an hour. Luckily, the scenery makes it worth it, whether you choose a cab or the bus.
At Stasher, we recognize that travelers like yourself need to explore their options before making a decision, so we’ve done the research for you. See below for a list of alternatives in the area - but fair warning, luggage storage in Auckland can be quite expensive.
