Another well-known transport hub, Earl’s Court has historically been seen as one of the main gateways to West London (as well as a competitor for the most confusing underground station in the city). However, in recent years, and thanks to a considerable programme of urban redevelopment, Earl’s Court has an increasing amount to offer the tourists that venture further afield. What used to be an area known for hostels, backpackers and commuters stuck in limbo is now more closely associated with a wealth of charming gardens, great eateries and vibrant nightlife. Things to Do in Earl’s Court
If you’re on a budget, a stroll around Earl’s Court is a rewarding and interesting option. For sci-fi fans (and more specifically lovers of Dr. Who), the Tardis Police Box outside the Station is a must see, and has proved a popular photo opportunity with tourists. A short walk away, Bramham Gardens is a large, tranquil slice of greenery in the heart of London, and provides the perfect setting to take in some charming Victorian architecture and landscaping.
But perhaps what Earl’s Court is most famous for is its Exhibition Centre, one of the largest indoor arenas in the country and a must-see for any West London bucket. As well as hosting exhibitions (naturally…), stars from Pink Floyd to Bowie, Kylie and Madonna have all put on concerts here.
Places to Eat in Earl’s Court
For Italian comfort eating at its finest, look no further than La Pappardella. Fresh and authentic pizza and pasta are churned out in large portions and packed with flavour, making this a busy and well-loved spot with locals. And if the food doesn’t do it for you, the wine list and service will. We’d definitely describe La Pappardella as something of a hidden gem!
If the inner Anglophile in you is craving something a bit closer to home, then The Pembroke offers some of the best British gastropub grub in town. Big portions, good value and a hearty menu have won the hearts and stomachs of West London. You can even enjoy your meal on the rooftop terrace if you’re lucky.
Best Pubs in Earl’s Court
What self-respecting area of the capital doesn’t boast a few good pubs? We’d opt for The Scarsdale, a relaxed, traditional watering hole with a charming outdoor area for those rare summer days. It tends to be slightly more quiet than your typical city pub, and has some great food on offer too.
Close by, you can find The Blackbird, a former bank with a charming interior (the marble columns and high ceilings allude to its past). A favourite with locals and Friday night office workers, The Blackbird is a cosy and friendly spot with a great beer selection.
For something slightly different, head down to Evans & Peel Detective Agency. While London has enjoyed something of a speakeasy mania in recent years, this basement bar has something a bit different on offer when compared with your usual city cocktail venues. Before you step in the door (that is if you manage to find the unmarked entrance), passwords are asked, false identities assumed, and inside the 1920s decor and deadly-serious service all add to the atmosphere. Evans & Peel is guaranteed to bring something a little different to your trip — and hopefully more than a little fun.

Believe us when we here at Stasher say there’s a lot more to Troubador than first meets the eye. On the ground floor, expect to enjoy some of the most scrumptious brunch in London in a charming, modern setting (the stained glass windows are a particular highlight). But the Troubador is also known for its considerable contribution to musical history. Jimi Hendrix and Led Zeppelin alike have jammed here, and music nights are held as regularly as they were int he 1960s. Not one to be missed.
