We Tried Stasher and Radical Storage (Head-to-Head Comparison)

So you’ve just arrived at your holiday destination, but check-in isn’t until a few more hours.

What will you do with your luggage until then? Carrying it around the city isn’t a piece of cake.

We assume that as a traveler you’ve experienced this many times!

And this is usually the part where you start searching for places to store your luggage for a couple of hours.

If you’ve done it already, then Radical Storage and our very own Stasher are definitely two great luggage storage services you’ve come across.

But which one should you go for?

Coming up we’ll do a fair head-to-head comparison when it comes to pricing, locations and other factors, but let’s start with a brief overview of each platform.

What is Stasher?

Starting with our very own Stasher, the idea for a luggage storage platform came about in 2015.

People were asking Anthony (Stasher’s co-founder) whether they could store their stuff at his home near King’s Cross. Jokingly we would reply “Sure, but I’m charging you for it”, and that was the lightbulb moment! 💡

At Stasher we allow users to store their bags in over 3.800 locations worldwide, from major cities like London and New York, to smaller ones like Palermo and Acapulco

Plus, you can find available Stashpoints in various museums around the world, as well as major airports and train stations like London Heathrow and Victoria Station.

Needless to mention partnerships with hotels like the Premier Inn!

We also offer a £2.500 insurance for your belongings and 100% money back guarantee if you’re not satisfied!

You can book a location either through our platform or app in under 2 minutes, by simply choosing your location, number of bags and desired dates.

Why not see for yourself how easy it is to use Stasher?

Pretty easy, right?

You’re now ready to safely store your luggage (and not only) and enjoy your vacation!

What is Radical Storage?

Radical Storage is one of the top options when it comes to storing your luggage.

It offers a variety of locations worldwide, such as Paris, New York, Dubin and Madrid.

The app is rather easy to use and you can find and book a location to store your bags in just a few minutes.

Also, just like with Stasher, there are no size limitations to the luggage you can store, so flexibility is definitely a pro!

Now that we briefly saw what the two platforms are all about, let’s do a closer comparison between the two.

Stasher vs Radical Storage: A Head-to-Head Comparison

Every luggage storage company has several factors that determine its accountability, flexibility, network and cost-effectiveness.

After all those are some of the main things a user will take into consideration before becoming a customer.

Let’s dive a little deeper into those factors regarding Stasher and Radical Storage in particular.

Factor #1: Pricing

When it comes to pricing, things are quite straightforward.

On one hand, it only costs £4.99 to store your bag for the whole day with Stasher, regardless of the size or weight of your luggage.

On the other hand, Radical Storage charges £4.30 per bag per day for most locations, but price can increase depending on the location.

For example, storing a bag in London will cost £5/day while storing it in New York will cost £5.40/day.

Note: Keep in mind that booking fees apply in both services.

Why not see things in action though?

Let’s put ourselves in the shoes of a user looking to store 1 bag for a whole day somewhere in London, starting with Stasher:

As you can see below, the platform has presented us with 250 locations around the city for our selected time and date, with most prices being £4.99/day although in some cases it’s even £4.49!

After selecting a random location we can see that certain fees apply, such as a £0.99 service fee and just £1.07 for insurance covering up to £2.500.

So the total cost for storing a bag for a whole day in London with Stasher, adds up to £6.55.

Let’s now give Radical Storage a go, for the same location and date in order to keep the comparison fair.

As we can see, the platform has 143 locations available though the city with all prices starting from £5/bag/day.

By selecting a random location, we notice that a £1.75 fee applies for insurance up to £3.000.

This makes the cost of storing our bag with Radical Storage, a total of £6.75.

Therefore, when comparing both options head-to-head we notice that Stasher is slightly cheaper.

Factor #2: Locations

Another factor you should take into account as a user is the network of locations such a company offers.

Although we briefly just saw that Stasher offers 250 locations in London compared to the 143 of Radical Storage, in general:

  • Stasher offers 3.800+ locations in over 890 cities worldwide
  • Radical Storage offers 7.000+ locations worldwide

So in terms of locations Radical Storage has a slight edge.

Factor #3: Insurance

When storing your luggage somewhere the last thing you want is to have it stolen or damaged, right?

That’s why almost all luggage storage platforms offer a certain amount of insurance to cover the theft or damage of your belongings.

To be precise:

  • Stasher offers a £2.500 guarantee
  • Radical Storage offers a £3.000 guarantee

While Radical Storage offers a slightly higher insurance, keep in mind that you’ll have to pay more for it during checkout (extra £1.75 per bag, compared to £1.07 that Stasher charges).

Factor #4: Customer reviews

All platforms like to brag a bit about themselves on their websites. Even here at Stasher we boast about how easy it is to use our platform (and we like to think rightfully so).

However, customers are the real source of truth. Let’s have a look at what they have to say about both services, on Trustpilot and the App Store.

Stasher

On Trustpilot, Stasher has a 4.8/5 rating from over 1,400 reviews, with over 90% of them being 5-star reviews.

On the App Store the rating is 4.5/5 from over 40 reviews.

Radical Storage

When it comes to Radical Storage, on Trustpilot it has a 4.2/5 rating with 69% of reviews being 5-star.

On the App Store the rating is 4.3/5

So after comparing the two we notice that Stasher has an advantage when it comes to customer reviews, having a better rating on both Trustpilot and the App Store.

All in all, we’d say that the overall comparison between the two platforms is somewhat even, but it all comes down to your own needs and preferences.

Is pricing more important for you? Then Stasher is probably the best choice.

Do you want a slightly higher insurance and are willing to pay a little more? Then maybe you should go for Radical Storage.

Nevertheless, both are great choices!

Let’s wrap things up with some final words.

Wrapping Up

As we mentioned, there’s no right or wrong choice when it comes to picking a luggage storage platform.

Both Stasher and Radical Storage are great services, but the final choice boils down to your own needs and preferences.

Based on the facts above, if you feel like Stasher suits you best, we’d be honoured to help you find a safe and convenient location to store your luggage.
