EasyJet Cabin Baggage

All passengers travelling with EasyJet are allowed one free carry-on bag with their ticket. The dimensions of this, including the handle and wheels, must not exceed 56 x 25 x 45cm. If your bag is larger than this, you will be charged £40 to have it stored in the hold.

On some EasyJet flights for reasons of space on board your hand luggage will be stored in the hold at no extra charge.

Important information for travellers to Italy: On all EasyJet flights to and from Italy, carry-on bags will no longer be stored in the overhead lockers, but under the seat in front. Your carry-on bag must not be larger than 45 x 36 x 20cm (smaller than the standard cabin bag allowance).

EasyJet offers a standard hold bag of 23 kg, with the option to add extra weight in 3 kg increments up to 32 kg. Fees vary depending on the route and time of booking.

EasyJet Checked Baggage

EasyJet passengers can book up to 3 checked bags per person. A standard bag is 23kg, but there is a cheaper alternative with a limit of 15kg (available online only). The maximum total size for any checked bag is 275cm (height + width + length).

You can reserve checked baggage online or at the airport. Online, the cost is £9.49 – £42.49 depending on your route and the season. At the airport this rises to £40, and at the boarding gate it will cost you £50 per item.

If your bag exceeds the weight or size limits, you will have to pay for excess baggage up to a maximum of 32kg.

EasyJet excess Baggage Policy

If your bag is more than 23kg but less than 32kg, you can pay for excess baggage to ensure that it is transported on the plane.

The best way to do this is online in advance of your flight. The price is £3 per kg online, but £12 per kg at the airport.

If your bag weighs more than 32kg it will not be accepted on the plane.

EasyJet Sports Equipment

With EasyJet, you can bring sports equipment as checked luggage for a small fee. This fee depends on whether you are bringing small or large sports equipment.

  • Small equipment – Small sports equipment (up to 20 kg): £42 online, £52 at the airport.
  • Large equipment – Large sports equipment (up to 32 kg): £52 online, £62 at the airport.

You can book up to 6 items per passenger.

Helpful tip: You can pool the total weight allowances for your sports equipment and hold luggage, as long as no single item weighs more than 32kg.

EasyJet Musical Instruments

Instruments larger than 30 x 117 x 38 cm can only travel in the cabin if a separate seat is purchased for them. Instruments smaller than this can be brought on board as cabin baggage, provided they fit within the allowed dimensions and weight.

Booking a seat for your instrument: Booking a seat for your instrument is simple. Add a passenger to your booking and use ‘Mr Seat Cello’ for the passenger name.

It will then be shipped to the destination address provided by you. And you can check its progress along the way, so you always know where your luggage is on its journey.
