6 Cafés to work and spend hours with your computer in Santiago

Finding a place to sit for a long time with your computer and a cup of coffee, with nobody staring and waiting for you to leave soon, can be difficult.

So if you are a freelance worker looking for a space to focus or you are just passing by Santiago and need a place to download photos or talk with relatives on Skype, we recommend some places with good Wi-Fi, nice coffee, good atmosphere and the chance to stay as long as you want.

Business Coffee Santiago

This is the favorite coffee shop of the Airkeep team. We like it so much that we invited them to be one of our keepairs, so you can leave your excess baggage here while you walk around Santiago, besides taking the chance to work for a while, back up your videos or relax and have a great cup of coffee with a delicious cake.

This cafe has several tables (with a power plug available), very comfortable armchairs, a terrace to enjoy the sun in Summer and a fully equipped meeting room for 8 people, which you can reserve per hour (with extra cost). It’s located in the center of the Providencia district, 5 minutes away from the Manuel Montt Metro station by foot, but away from the noisy street.

COFI Coffee

COFI coffee has several branches in Santiago, all with very good coffee and delicious food. It stands out among other coffee franchises because they always serve well and are pro-work: nobody will bother you if you stay longer than normal.

Also, if you need to have a meeting there are several spaces to get together with your group. The most recommended branch to work in is the one located on the corner of Pedro de Valdivia and Almirante Pastene, well located, but protected from the bustle of the city.

GAM Public Café

As its name suggests, this coffee shop is open to everyone. It’s a simple place, the prices are very accessible and typical Chilean sweets. There are lattes and marraqueta (Chilean bread) with ham and cheese. You won’t find specialty coffee, but everything is well made.

Almost everyone here goes to work and focus, so you and your computer are welcome. In addition, tables are large and ideal for unplanned meetings. The place is a self-service store, so in less 3 minutes you will get your order, perfect for those with little time. The best thing about this place is that it’s located inside the Gabriela Mistral Cultural Center, so if you get bored of the computer, you can visit some of its beautiful exhibitions.

Café del 10

Café del 10 is located in Santiago’s historic district, less than 2 blocks from Palacio de la Moneda. This cozy place, with a distinctive executive style, is perfect for working while enjoying specialty coffee and Belgian or French pastries.

Wi-Fi signal works very well and each table has power plugs. You can spend all day trying different meals, because their prices are very good and the menu has several options. On the second floor there are 6 private rooms equipped for meetings; you can reserve them per hour for an extra payment.

Literary Cafe at Parque Bustamante

Located right in the middle of Parque Bustamante, you’ll find this library/coffee shop. Its main feature is silence, so it’s a good place to concentrate on a project or to read for a while. If you get bored, you can browse through all the books you want, even if you are not a member of the library. Important fact: to borrow a book you need to be a member.

The menu offers the basics and is not very long. In exchange you have an incredible view of the park, free Wi-Fi, power plugs in every table of the lounge and, on hot days, a nice terrace to work outdoors.

Santander Work / Café

This chain of work cafés, associated to Banco Santander, offers places that are specially designed to work. It’s not necessary to have an account with the bank to use the space, whatever you buy gives you the right to stay for as long as you want. There’s a very good Wi-Fi signal, work desks and meeting rooms. The coffee menu has a good variety and prices are quite low; You can also eat sandwiches and cakes to spend the day.

What distinguishes this work café from others, is that because it belongs to a bank it’s very safe and you don’t need to worry too much about your stuff. There are 16 branches in Santiago, located in the most important commercial areas of the city.
