What are the top 10 things to do near Charles de Gaulle?

Layovers can quickly get boring, but that’s not the case when you find yourself in the second busiest airport in Europe! Although sleeping is always an option, there are many things you can do between flights inside and about Charles de Gaulle Airport.

  1. Once upon a time, airport lounges were a luxury for business class or first class flyers. With travel apps like FLIO and Loungebuddy you can book a place in a luxurious airport lounge and spend your time enjoying the complimentary food and WiFi.
  2. Try some French cuisine in one of the airport’s luxurious restaurants. While standard options like Pret, Starbucks and McDonalds are always there, you can always try some fancy (and expensive) seafood at Caviar House.
  3. French museums (The Louvre, Palace of Versailles and others) lend exhibitions to the CDG Airport. You can usually find artwork on display in Terminals 1&2, so that’s a great way to spend your time in the airport.
  4. It takes approximately one hour to reach the center of Paris from CDG, so leaving the airport to go see the city should be done only if you have a lot of time on your hands (8+ hours).
  5. If there isn’t time to visit the actual City of Lights, you can catch a glimpse by visiting the Instant Paris area of the airport in Terminal 2. This lounge is filled with French literature and screens with local news feeds, featuring also an immersive 3D walk of Paris!
  6. Treat yourself to a lavish spa session in the Be Relax kiosks in Terminal 2 or just use a massage chair if you are strapped for cash.
  7. Services like YotelAir offer sleep cabins and showers on demand if you feel like you need some rest or have an extremely long layover.
  8. There are arcade games and video game lounges available in all terminals, so if you are a gamer, your layover time will fly (pun intended)!
  9. The video lounges in Terminal 2E offer you the chance to relax and watch a film from a comfortable couch with built-in audio.
  10. There is a retired Concorde aircraft somewhere in the airport. Keep your eyes peeled and see if you can spot this impressive piece of machinery and design!
