Probing for information about Wembley Stadium’s bag policy? Find out more about what you can bring with you as well as the luggage storage options nearby as you travel to the UK’s most prestigious football stadium.
Located in Wembley, the football stadium is the largest stadium in the UK with a capacity of 90,000. Fun fact: the stadium contains 2,618 toilets, more than any other venue in the world. The stadium was opened in 2007 on the original Wembley Stadium site which was demolished between 2002 and 2003. The stadium hosts important football matches such as the FA Cup Final, the EFL Cup, and the England national football team home matches.
Wembley Stadium also hosted the rematch between Carl Froch and George Groves on 31 May 2014 for the WBA super-middleweight and IBF titles, its first boxing event. The fight was viewed by 80,000 spectators, a record attendance for a British post-ward boxing match. This was later broken on 29 April 2017 when Anthony Joshua and Wladimir Klitschko’s World Boxing Association and International Boxing Federation heavyweight championship fight was held in front of approximately 90,000 spectators.
About Wembley Stadium
Aside from sports, Wembley also holds other events such as major concerts. The first concert ever performed at the new stadium was by George Michael on 9 June 2007. In July 2017, Adele completed her world tour with tour concerts labeled “The Finale” at Wembley. The concert had a record UK music event attendance of 98,000 fans. In July 2007, two large concerts for charity were held; the Concert for Diana, a memorial concert to acknowledge ten years since the death of Princess Diana and celebrate her would-have-been 46th birthday, and Live Earth, a concert dedicated to countering climate change.

Wembley Stadium Bag Policy
There are a number of restrictions on what baggage you can bring to Wembley stadium in order to make it safe for everyone. By restricting the size and style of bags carried by people, Wembley’s bag policy improves safety in and out of the stadium.
Each person is allowed to bring one small bag, which cannot be larger than A4 size:
- Height: 297mm
- Width: 210mm
- Depth: 210mm
Important note: this refers to the overall bag size. Half-filled or folded-over bags are not allowed.
Anyone who carries a bag that does not match the criteria above will not be allowed in. If you are unsure, you can purchase a stadium-friendly clear backpack.
Will bags be inspected?
Yes, all bags and items carried by staff and spectators will be inspected upon arrival. This might include a pat down or electronic wanding.
Frequently asked about items that are allowed
- Matchday merchandise: this will be supplied in a clear plastic bag
- Exceptions for medical equipment, and some other things, with permission in advance
- Cameras, mobile phones or tablets
- Handbags, however they count as the one small bag you’re allowed to bring in
